O guru de escrita Ken Dancyger dá master class e oficina em Portugal

Ken Dancyger é um dos mais importantes professores de argumento e tem efetuado workshops um pouco por todo o mundo. É o autor de dois manuais muito utilizados nas escolas de cinema – “Writing the Short Film ” ou “Alternative Scriptwriting: Successfully Breaking the Rules ” – e dá aulas na prestigiada Tisch School of Arts da New York University.

Dancyger estará em Portugal, na programação do Campus, para uma Masterclass sobre Curtas-Metragens (Porto, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, 18 de Novembro, entrada livre) e um Workshop de Escrita de Argumento "Idea Development to Treatment" (Vila do Conde, Centro de Memória, 18-20 de Novembro).

O Campus é um programa de educação, formação e profissionalização na área do cinema e audiovisual e é dirigida a estudantes do Ensino Superior. Inclui produção de filmes e um conjunto de ações formativas (workshops e masterclasses) com formadores internacionais. O Campus está integrado na programação do Estaleiro, uma iniciativa da equipa do Curtas Vila do Conde. (+info em http://estaleiro.curtas.pt/). The short film form is distinct and quite different in structure and character from the long or feature film. How do they differ? What are the primary narrative characteristics of the short film? Focusing on premise, character population, character arc and the structure, we will look at two plot-oriented short films (films with a resolution and more straight-forward characters). We will look at these two films by a single filmmaker so that we can also begin to assess “the voice” of the writer/filmmaker. What is the voice of the writer/filmmaker and how does if influence the narrative? The two films are by Anthony Green – “Pigeon” (12 minutes) and “Screening” (16 minutes).

Bio note

Ken Dancyger is the author of 7 books on storytelling: 4 on scriptwriting including “Writing the Short Film”, “Alternative Scriptwriting: Successfully breaking the Rules” (4th Edition) and “Global Scriptwriting”, one from the point of view of the editor, “The Technique of Film and Video Editing” (5th Edition), and one from the point of view of the director, “The Director’s Idea: the Path to Great Directing”. All are published by Focal Press. Ken conducts screenwriting and post-production workshops worldwide. He is currently writing a memoir and a novel. He is Professor of Film and Television at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
